Bear Payne is the son of Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole. He was born on March 22, 2017. He is the second child born to a member of One Direction, the first being Louis Tomlinson's son Freddie. Liam and Cheryl told media they would not be showing Bear's face publicly to allow him to have an entirely private childhood.

Pregnancy

Rumors of Cheryl's pregnancy began in March 2016. There was no official confirmation from Liam or Cheryl, until a visibly pregnant Cheryl was photographed in public. In late 2016, heavily pregnant Cheryl starred in a L'Oreal makeup campaign.

Birth

On March 25, 2017, a picture of Liam holding his son was shared on both his and Cheryl's Instagram pages to announce the birth, which occurred three days earlier. It was mentioned in both posts that a name hadn't been decided yet. On May 1, 2017, it was reported that the baby's name was Bear. Liam confirmed this the next day in response to a tweet from reality star Bear Grylls. On May 15, 2017, a fan claimed that Liam had revealed Bear's middle name is Grey. The child's name is based upon the grunting noises he would make in his sleep.

Appearances

Bear Payne's face has never been shown in public. Liam has explained he and Cheryl wish to maintain a private childhood for him. The pair have shared obscured photos such as Bear's hand resting on Liam's or audio of Bear laughing.

Despite the lack of pictures, Liam has openly discussed parenthood and his son's progress in interviews.
